Aloha my readers! This is a momentous week for Aunty. She's finally uploaded her latest commercial computer website so this site goes back to being what it originally was, a basic directory of Aunty's favorite sites, some Aunty commentary of a generic nature and last but not least — Aunty's weblog. Yup. Gonna spill the beans here, totally.
Over time, this website will be upgraded, section by section, to use cascading style sheets and to degrade gently. It'll take some time as Aunty has
been hand-coding this site for over eight years now, and unfortunately (for me, err, for Aunty), Aunty quickly fell in love with frames so now every Aunty page is 'trapped in frames'. Sigh. Oh well, we all suffer from some level of hubris when we are
young (which doesn't explain Aunty's trapped-in-frames site since she
was not particularly 'young' when she started this site, sigh).
By the way, my new site, Silicon Gypsies, has passed w3c's HTML and CSS Validation (of course there's only four pages on that site right now, but soon there will be eight, then ten, etc. etc.). You can imagine that THIS site would totally flunk those validations, due to Aunty's quite lazyminded way of hand-coding, sigh. However, Aunty is being very self-disciplined in her coding for Silicon Gypsies, as that is her small business site.

If you are simply wondering what gets Aunty's mojo
workin', here's
your chance.
Tip of the Day: If you are tired of those stupid !~@#$!@ messenger service popups sent out by lamebrain spammers, this next link is where you'll discover how to stop them in their tracks.
While Aunty was browsing around Mozilla's site she came across this next item, a cutesy little tool. It's not really worth much except as a minor diversion, but what the heck, we can all use minor diversions now and again, huh. Copy the following address and paste it into your browser, but be sure you add a live url at the end of it.
http://webtools.mozilla.org/web-sniffer/view.cgi?url=http%3A//"add live url here". To test it out, try clicking on this link:
http://webtools.mozilla.org/web-sniffer/view.cgi?url=http%3A//www.cnn.com.
Cute, huh? This is a cgi-scripted tool that was originally designed for the Opera browser, but it works in Microsoft Internet Explorer just as well. No, Aunty didn't bother testing this item in Netscape as she is kinda lazy sometimes. It should work there, however. Let her know if it doesn't.
Oh, one more thing, are you ever suspicious that your internet service provider or 'ISP' isn't providing you with the bandwidth you are paying for? You can test your download speed by going to Circuit City's Internet and Home Networking webpage and then clicking on the java-link labelled "Speed Meter: How Fast is YOUR Connection?" That link is about halfway down that Circuit City page. Aunty can tell you that after running that test the first time she felt totally ripped off by RoadRunner service! tsk tsk! However she discovered if you run the test more than once, without 'refreshing', the reported bandwidth drastically downgrades. Upon reflection, Aunty must say that she thinks there's a bug on that Circuit City page. Nevertheless, it's still kinda fun to make the pointer move. (Aunty is so easily amused.)
