Woozle Makes a Break for Freedom...

Christmas Day, 2002 at the Cape Coral Yacht Club's Beach

7 am - December 25th, 2002 – sunrise at the beach — the only footprints in the sand belong to Aunty, Woozle and Frodo. The rest of the beachcombers are still at home unwrapping presents and celebrating the baby Jesus' Birthday.

Before singing carols at the Yacht Club last night, Aunty and Woozle watched a fisherman on the pier catch this fish, then throw it back. "Looks like the fish died of its injuries. What a waste! Woulda been great steamed and drenched in a fresh dill and leek sauce...", salivated Aunty.

While Aunty is distracted by the dead fish, Woozle sees his chance to tunnel to freedom....

."Well, that's a good start!", thought Woozle. "Now if Frodo can just keep Aunty from noticing..."

"Hey Woozle, I think you're wasting your time... Aunty gives us lots of balls to chase and fresh bananas to eat, why do you want to leave a good life???"

Digging furiously, Woozle thought to himself, "Blow it out your patooskey, fat boy, but I know what it's like to be FREE, and it's so much better than captivity!"

"Whew! This is harder than I remember... it's been a while since I tried tunnelling to freedom."

"I'm almost through to the other side!!!
I can feel it in my bones..."

"Dig a hole and pile the dirt. If it's wet you call it mud. If out of shape, your back will hurt. (Please don't try this in a flood.) la la laaaah!!", hummed Woozle as he dug, dug, dug.

"Wow! I can see light!! I'm almost out!!! Oh Thank You Ferret King of Kings! Thank you! I'm Free!! I'm Free!"

"I know this place, it's ... it's... the bushes by the truck... hey! Aunty's reaching for the leash! Curses! Foiled again!"

"Back at home, snuggled with Frodo and purdy lil' Podo, my belly full of Ferratone... I guess my life ain't so bad, but it's still 'prison' and there WILL come a day when I make it to freedom!", Woozle duked softly as he drifted off to sleep.

DISCLAIMER: Hey kids, neither Woozle nor I were hurt in the preparation of this pictorial.
Also Woozle loves Aunty too much to ever leave her, and so do the rest of us.
