Aunty Asks "WHY??????!!!!"

Why is the mainstream news media giving such a one-sided report on the withdrawal of Israel from what they call a "buffer zone" when it is actually Lebanon lands?

Why isn't anyone reporting the fact that the United Nations ordered Israel to remove themselves "forthwith" from these same Lebanese lands in 1978, 22 years ago?

Why is the mainstream media saying that the occupation was "successful" because so few people (aka "Israelis") died during it when in fact tens of thousands of Lebanese and Palestinians died during this 'occupation'? Why aren't they counted as "people"?

Why do recruiting companies frequently act patronizingly towards their contractors? Why don't they understand that their "real" clients are the contractors, not the companies where the contractors work? Considering how many of these recruiters never worked in the industry other than as recruiters, where do they get the hubris to act this way?

Why are poor people so blatantly exploited these days without any legal repercussions?

Why do they say there isn't an unemployment problem in this country when companies can hire someone for less than 25 hours a week, pay 'em minimum wage and then count these folks as 'fulltime employees'? Who, in this country, can live on minimum wage for 25 hours per week, or for that matter, 40 hours a week?

Why are corporate farmers allowed to grow and sell us genetically altered foods without letting us know?

How can anyone work as a "fetal parts wholesaler'? Why would anyone go into that kind of business? Why aren't they prosecuted in the same way that child pornographers are?

Why are women still treated as lesser beings in every country in the world when we are the purveyors of morality, spirituality, and community and we are the ones who do most of the work?

Why don't more Americans understand that this country isn't a Democracy, it's a Republic?

Why don't more Americans understand the need for the Electoral College?

Why isn't American Government really taught in the American schools?

Why do we allow the media to so blatantly misrepresent world current affairs to us? Why don't we complain more, cause sure as shootin' we know it's goin' on?!

Why don't we have universal health insurance? (This one is easy: corporate power (HMOs, etc) has been blocking this for years.)

Why don't we have good community transportation? Why are the highways in such bad shape and not maintained?

Why don't cars get 200 miles per gallon yet? Why aren't inexpensive cars built to the same safety standards as more expensive cars?

Why are so many people afraid of death?

Why is Aunty still afraid of the dark, when she's not afraid of death?

Why do so many people (not me!) want to live to be really old?

Why do people seem to give so much 'weight' to the words of an actor or an athlete, since the former is just a mimic and the latter is just physically fit?

Why have the educational standards in this country degraded so badly in this country?

Why are they building towns and cities these days without sidewalks, without greenbelts, without bike lanes, without parks, without public swimming pools, without public recreational centers?

Why are there so many golfcourses? Why do people ride around those golf courses in electric carts instead of walking? Why don't they remember that golf is supposed to be a form of exercise?

Why do most people still lead lives of such overwe'ening 'quiet desperation'?

Why do they still uses animals for medical/corporate research?

Why do they treat feedlot animals so cruelly?

Why are they still using fetal parts for research?

Why are women still trivialized as sexual objects?

Why aren't men trivialized as sexual objects?

Why are people still racists?

Why are laws still racist, ageist, sexist?

Why are old people not treated with respect?

Why can't you spank your own kids?

Why are so many people divorced?

Why are there still religious wars?

Why do people living in one state think they are somehow 'superior' to people living in another state (in the USA)?

Why do women shave their legs and armpits?

Why do so many women (not me) subject their feet to the tortures high-heeled shoes and (eeeoooo!!!) panty hose?

Why do many women subject themselves to underwire bras?

Why is every woman I know (including me <blush>) always on a diet?

Why do men wear ties?

Why do so many people get their teeth cleaned twice a year? Haven't they ever heard of raw carrots?

Why are there so many 'deadbeat dads'?

Why is there such a big market for child pornography?

Why is adult pornography treated as a 'big sin'?

Why do so many people get plastic surgery to look younger?

Why isn't there a woman President (in the USA)?

Why isn't there even a woman Vice-President (in the USA)?

Why don't more of us eat roasted grubs or farm-raised rats?

Why are there still so many starving people in the world, in THIS country!?

Why are there so many homeless people in the world, in THIS country!?
